Supernet Calculator

Aggregate multiple subnets into the smallest covering CIDR block. Simplify routing tables and summarize routes for cleaner network design.

Supernet / CIDR Aggregation Calculator

Enter CIDR ranges to find the smallest covering supernet and aggregate routes

What is Supernetting?

Supernetting (also called CIDR aggregation or route summarization) combines multiple contiguous subnets into a single, larger CIDR block. This reduces the number of entries in routing tables, improving router performance and simplifying network management.

When to Use

  • Summarizing BGP advertisements to upstream providers
  • Reducing OSPF/EIGRP routing table size
  • Planning VPC CIDR allocations in cloud environments
  • Consolidating firewall rules across subnet ranges

Benefits

  • Smaller routing tables = faster lookups
  • Reduced BGP update traffic between peers
  • Simpler ACL and firewall rule management
  • Cleaner network documentation
